Would not be enough to convey the sheer amount of life that has transpired while my online presence has been, for lack of a better term, lacking. I do hope that’s over and done with, though: I’d hate to think I blew all that cash on my very own domain for nothing.

I must say, though, it has been a rough couple of months. I was recently involved in my Army Open House held at Pasir Laba Camp from the 3rd to the 7th of September, which preparations required me to (finally!) get out of my normal holding area in Sungei Gedong camp and over to the much-more inhabitable world of the School of Infantry Specialists.

Well, at least outside of the school, at any rate. Anyway, long Army rant ahead, so yea, if you want the really juicy bit, scroll all the way down.

Ok, maybe I am d...

But who says dying means the end of all things? As Left4Dead proves, this is not the case.

In truth, I’ve been playing a little too much, eating a little too often, running and exercising too little, and it’s resulted in predictable changes in my lifestyle: I’m now a slob.

A slob who may still be playing Team Fortress 2 and more recently, Left4Dead with reckless abandon, but still a slob. I’d normally make the obligatory ‘content’ post which would mostly comprise of several photographs taken recently, but I’ve come to realize that it’s a wasted endeavour, seeing as it’d be much more productive to post them on forums or elsewhere and actually get some constructive feedback, rather than enshrine them on some meaningless server for all time.

Parting Shots

Are all I have to offer for this particular update. It’s sad: tragic, perhaps, but life goes on.

I’ve been drafted for a Bionix driving course for quite some time now, and tomorrow marks its beginning. What I didn’t know was that this course would also include the Operator Maintenance course, adding an additional 2 unwanted weeks of staying in my army premises. Totalling 4 horrific weeks of learning how to work the various parts and wheels of the Bionix Armoured Fighting Vehicle.

I wouldn’t be so pissed off if I wasn’t already driving the fucking thing almost every day that I’m in camp and hard at work. Seriously, I could probably drive the thing without a ground guide and have zero problems whatsoever. It sure as hell is easier to handle than the Bronco.

But ho! I shall not spend my last free night musing over such unhappy prospects. Instead, I shall feast over sushi, sashimi and tempura udon (which I already have), play Team Fortress 2 until my eyes pop out from mario_kart (I’m currently trying to stop the retinal bleed) and now, work on updating this section of the interweb with my recent endeavours, amateurish though they might be.

Marathons

Are things that most people usually take as a sign of achievement, that show the true perseverance of the human spirit. It speaks volumes of a person’s character and determination when he or she completes such a feat, bettered only, perhaps, by running faster.

To me, it speaks of the ability to run/jog/walk a long distance. Just that, nothing more. For what else does it signify, really? It’s a fucking marathon, not a judge imperious, watching over your every step and making a assertion of your traits.

Whatever the perceptions (mine or others), the 21 kilometre Army Half-Marathon event took place earlier today, the gruelling run being started at around 6.30 a.m., which, in Army Timeā„¢ means that I had to report at the fall-in area at 5.30 a.m..

Beyond the sand

And seas, a great evil stirs. Behold! It’s nothing more than a company of morons come to celebrate, or rather, worship their great deity known otherwise as cohesion, which occurred on the 1st of August, quite some time ago.

I too, had to participate in this horrid ritual or risk having my name being listed for the next requiem. Thankfully, we got to sleep late on the actual date; the event would be taking place at a chalet located near my lair, and it would only start a little after lunch.

Unfortunately for me, though, my role in this fracas was expounded by virtue of the fact that a few rascallions saw me wielding my Nikon around duirng the previous unit cohesion event, and promptly reported such findings to those wielding the chains of power.

Anyone who says different is obviously a liar.Tend to be covered with dirt, pieces of grass and the squashed remains of unmentionable creatures. Honestly, what is it about jungles that turn simple, primitive (maybe lovable in some freakish manner) anthropods into mutated monsters?

My Bronco driving course is nearing the end of its lifespan, tomorrow being the final nail in its wholly imaginary coffin. I had to stay in for two days previously, as one particular day’s itenarary had some of us waking up at 0430 hours to pickup a boat from another army compound for our flotation exercise.

Yes, you heard me right. Flotation. Like, on water. Muddy, disgusting, probably bacteria-infested waters. Such things are viewed not as obstacles, oh no. They are merely opportunities.
