Spring break

Is traditionally a time period in which students try to enjoy themselves as much as possible, in preparation for the second half of their spring semester at school. For me, it’s seems to be merely an extension of my current life, even if only 2 days of it have transpired so far.

I’ve been keeping myself busy working on my midterm assignment, which consists of drawing…well, there’s no other way to put it. Hands, and feet. Of humans, not fantasy creatures. And judging from what my assignments in other classes are, you can probably tell why I’m feeling a little winded (Not even taking into account, of course, that I try to follow Mr. Loomis’ adage of drawing a hand a day).

But naturally, with any formally-defined break, one usually tends to reflect on their current progress thus far. And I am sad to say that I fall prey to this petty, completely unnecessary complication in my life as well.

While I am, perhaps, apprehensive of what lies in store for me when I return to school (we begin painting with acrylics in art class, for instance, which is something I know I’m going to absolutely detest), I am at least buoyed by the fact that my workflow, at least, has largely made it without much hassle through my classes. I’m talking specifically, of course, about my tablet pc, which garners some curious looks whenever I pop it open in Biology class to make sketches or in Animation class to, well, animate.

I must admit, I was rather apprehensive when I first started lugging the bloody thing to class, complete with portable keyboard and stand, if not only because I looked like a right twat working furiously away on it. Like I was playing a goddamn hentai ecchi or something in the middle of class.

Now, though, I’ve managed to mostly blend in with the rest of the class, silently working away on our own animations, even finally getting my animation tutor to draw over my stuff with my stylus when he wants me to make a change.

So, that’s good.

Another good thing is that Catherine‘s artwork was all done with SAI, something that I fully advocate. Both Catherine and SAI, in case there’s any confusion. My friend started using SAI after I introduced it to him, and I hate him for making stuff that blows anything I’m doing out of the fucking planet.

Goddamnit.

Well, back to speedpainting, then.
