Usually refers to the phrase in which the word “up” or “down” is appended at the very end.
In my case, it refers to thumbnails. Lots and lots of them.
The workload so far has been steadily increasing, and yet, somehow, I’ve managed to poke my head through from beneath the pile of misery, if only to breathe. Granted, my work did suffer a little this week, and I didn’t manage to get as much physical conditioning as I would have liked to, but this is life! Compromises are part and parcel of it!
Fuck that shit! I expect to show why this is so in a couple of days, when Wacom decides not to be bastards. Until then, remain in waiting.
I recently purchased a trackball mouse (Logitech M570, as a matter of fact) primarily because my desk here is rather much smaller than I am used to having (read: fucking tiny), and quite frankly, hitting either laptop every time I swung my Sidewinder X8 was getting a little old. And I wasn’t even gaming.
Additionally, at least I don’t have to pop my wrist every few minutes now and then to check that it’s still attached. I was hesitant, as always, to use the trackball, and I have to admit I probably need a little more time with it before I can start mousing at the same performance as I used to (I keep wanting to move the whole mouse, then having to remind myself that I’m being an imbecile), but it’s genuinely surprising how much more ergonomic that retarded-looking thumb ball really is, stories of thumb fatigue to the contrary.
And of course, what would a post be without arts? Let them commence!
For biology class, we had to create a comic about how to measure subjects accurately: that’s one of the pages of the 6-page epic which I illustrated. Considering I sketched, inked and toned each page in slightly over an hour, I think that’s acceptable for what I churned out.
In addition to 300 thumbnails of teapots (don’t ask), I had to do thumbnail sketches of a fantasy animal that relied on a certain sensory appendage in order to survive in its habitat. I have to say: thank god I brought my tablet PC here.
We then had to render a model sheet of it. And speaking of model sheets, here’s one of the recent assignments I did for animation class:
Yep. Always up for using my assignments to get in some practice in for an old idea I had that, if I’m lucky, I might have the time to work on next summer. Although my parents want me to go back and visit them, ugh. Why on earth would I subject myself to the annoyances of Customs, flights, baggage and general movement, when I’ve already set myself up here (rather nicely, if I might add)?
