Ok, maybe I am dead
But who says dying means the end of all things? As Left4Dead proves, this is not the case.
In truth, I’ve been playing a little too much, eating a little too often, running and exercising too little, and it’s resulted in predictable changes in my lifestyle: I’m now a slob.
A slob who may still be playing Team Fortress 2 and more recently, Left4Dead with reckless abandon, but still a slob. I’d normally make the obligatory ‘content’ post which would mostly comprise of several photographs taken recently, but I’ve come to realize that it’s a wasted endeavour, seeing as it’d be much more productive to post them on forums or elsewhere and actually get some constructive feedback, rather than enshrine them on some meaningless server for all time.
I will say, though, in my defense, LittleBigPlanet, Mirror’s Edge, Sonic Unleashed and just a few days old, Dissidia: Final Fantasy are all fantastic ways to waste one’s time doing absolutely nothing productive whatsoever. It’s like crack, only cheaper, legal and (in Sonic and Faith’s case) immensely frustrating at times. I’m currently still on the fence over SF II HD Remix and Crash Commando on the PSN, both great and cheap bouts of fun, much like LSD, but at the same time, hard to justify. I’ll be sure to come to a thrilling conclusion within the next few days.
Christmas, as usual, is around the corner, which is partially the reason why I decided to make a post before my blog atrophied into dust. The other part was because I recently had the pleasure of attending a Mixed Martial Arts competition thanks to a army friend of mine (who primarily studies Shen Kun Dai, basically a bastard child of Jiu-Jutsu and Muay Thai along with some extra emphasis on groundwork), and I learned a whole lot about photographing such events.
It was pretty difficult, especially since I didn’t have a godly telephoto lens (my 70-300 f4/5.6 isn’t really ideal for low-light situations) and MMA is really, really fast. I had to rely on my own personal knowledge of such material to know when to hit the shutter. (E.g. watching for a telegraphed move to snap a shot of someone performing a roundhouse) Even then, fakes and sudden low roundhouses or even quick straights and crosses caught me off-guard.
And as someone told me before: the referee always gets in the way of the shot.
It was a pretty good experience, and considering the amount of knockouts that occured, I’d say I paid good money ($15, was it? It was kinda longish-ago) for about 6 hours of entertainment.
And yea, my friend got eliminated in his first round. His whole team got eliminated, actually, though thankfully none of them got K.Oed at any point.
I’ll be back after Christmas to post a couple more things that occured during my online absence.
