It seems I have found it, in the form of a small, delightful package, no larger than half the size of my fist, white as the iPod, with a distinct hint of green.

Presenting my new purchase of the 2 GB variant, which leaves me 179 SGD (Approximately 117 USD) less wealthy, but I suppose that’s not really the source of the lingering guilt that stays with my heart. It’s more the fact that I’ve actually indulged myself with such a vicious vice, and I’m starting to feel the various pangs that come with it, almost as if I’ve been swindled, cheated, then left to die.
Yes, I know I probably paid slightly more than I should have, but hey, I bought at at the IT show that’s currently ongoing at our local Suntec City mall, so I guess it can’t be all bad.
Anyway, the new trinket looks absolutely gorgeous, to say the least. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for its user interface or its documentation or the software Creative provides with it, which is to say, sorely lacking. But I didn’t really expect anything else, though now I do understand better why Apple’s portable media players somehow fare better than Creative’s, even though they both suffer from bad design: Apple uses more gradients and glossy buttons in iTunes.
Seriously.
Anyway, all of this would not have been possible had it not been for my acquisition of my new ATM card, along with an application for a debit card. (I currently only have the ATM card in my possession, the debit card will be mailed over in about 2 weeks’ time) What does this mean? It means that pretty soon, sonictk.com will actually become a reality. I’m thinking of signing on with one of Dreamhost’s plans, it seems pretty awesome, but the only drawback is that they don’t support Paypal payments, only Google Checkout, and I’m not so sure I want to be linking my email account to money. Not just money, but money money. You know. Scams and all.
I know I haven’t finished the House M.D. illustration like I was supposed to. I apologize; I blame recent indulgences, both on food and sleep. Also, the recently concluded General Paper common test, which went off rather fine, considering my grasp of the English language far surpasses most mortals.
Ahem.
That is to say, it went off kind of ok, but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the one person who picks up my script has a taste for sarcasm. Let’s just say that I wrote an essay about environmental conservation, a topic I find myself being nonchalant about, and its content perhaps reflects that attitude through slight, sly phrases.
I would elaborate on my recent outing to Linus’ house for training for the upcoming Gears of War tournament (Spiff is currently loaning him the disc to play), but right now, I must find my Zen. 2 gigabytes of pure looks and shoddy design await.
By the way, in case you are, for some reason, intrigued, our first match begins this coming Wednesday at Funan’s lower atriums of hell, 1600 – 1800 hrs GMT +8. Don’t expect any heroics, though; I have the worst of snakes in my belly at the moment.
