Alright then, is this better?

Because if it’s not, pain might be forthcoming.

I am aware that earlier posts may not appear very well, or well at all, in the sense that they appear, well, fucked up. I apologise. Writing in semantic hypertext markup, proper, verified and all that is something that I’ve only begun to exude only recently. In any case, future posts will, I hope, be written as such, and hopefully they will fade away into the background, only to be remembered as archives of times past.

Now that sounds more like me again.

Anyway, the reason I’ve held off on updates, as you might have guessed (along with the inveitable delay of working on Hard Life) was to bring this new layout to life. Featuring true variable-width capabilities and an easier tone on the eyes, along with advertisement space (the white area with nothing was there for a reason) and proper markup (at least, before the bastardizations of Blogger), here’s to Harsh V2, and till the next layout, good times.

It can be yours for a mere million dollars, by the way. Just in case you really wanted such a layout or something.

The new icon suite that goes with this (look at the navigation bar) is also somewhat chameleon in its nature; you’ll notice this site doesn’t appear too well at all in IE6. That’s because everything here (almost, anyway) is PNG format, and IE6 doesn’t support the transparency that it offers. Yes, I know GIF would have worked too, but damn it’s 2006, people, fucking upgrade. So many choices out there, and people still choose to stick with IE6. It’s incredible, really, and I don’t need those kind of people to surf this site.

Speaking of which, I hope this layout is cross-browser compliant. I’ve even specially installed Opera just for that very purpose, in which it kind of displays fine, but I can’t be sure for other browsers. I do know, however, that it appears dandy in my primary browser, which just happens to be Firefox 2.0, so if you’re using some novel browser out there because you’re just that kind of guy, too bad.

Anyway, back to the updates, and then more fixing of the site layout. First up, of course, are the pictures from the Singapore Marathon 2006. (From now on, I’m not going to use target=”_blank” in my links anymore, in light of understand how Blogger’s post editor works, which is gay. So please, if you’re using Firefox, do yourself a favour and use the middle mouse button instead to click on links, thus saving you time and money!) You’ll notice, of course, that most of the photos have been cropped and edited. But your guess of Photoshop is hideously incorrect. No, this time, I put Adobe Lightroom to the test. It performed quite well, to my surprise, seeing that I had already pointed out that it suffered a lot from trying to do everything real-time. But in the end, with a 122 photo shoot, it only crashed 1 time, and that was when I actually somehow managed to crash Miranda, so maybe that doesn’t really count. But anyway, I guess it worked fine, and I did manage to catch a shot of the Kenyan who eventually won the event. (All 42.125 kilometres of it) But of course, the high point of the event? The lunch after the race.

It was basically awesome with a dose of expensive, with my teacher covering the bill. I kind of felt bad actually partaking in it, seeing as I wasn’t actually one of those who participated in the marathon. I hope my shots will serve as compensation of sorts.

Like this one.

Flattering, isn’t it? I have more, if only you had seen the link the first time.
