Shaken, not stirred

You can probably guess that I caught Casino Royale today at my local cinema. You’re indeed without mistake in that assumption.

The movie was good, if not perhaps one of the better Bond films that I’ve had the pleasure of catching, and at least Daniel Craig, in my opinion, fits into the role better than Pierce Brosnan does. The most eye-catching instances were actually the style of the introductory credits and the initial few shots of the film, which were done a la Sin City gritty-black-and-white style. I especially love the way the producers used vectors to do up the introductory credits, though. It’s executed with no small manner of precision, with all those paths and gradients (though I might detect some Live Tracing being used, but I’m not entirely sure), and it pulls off the sleek, stylish effect very well.

So well, in fact, that I was finally inspired by it to get off my ass and design something for my sister’s upcoming birthday, which arrives quite soon. Soon enough to me to have procrastinated for this long, at any rate.

Yeah, she likes dolphins.

I actually have two versions of the design, one on a white T-shirt base, and the other with the navy blue. Of course, you can customize the shirt to your heart’s content (or Zazzle’s Product Designer’s limitations, whichever comes first), but I don’t know why anyone would want dolphins on their chest. I loathe the damn things.

Well, maybe not, but sharks are cooler. So dolphins are lose.

Anyway, I’ll probably cajole my mom into ordering one of these and shipping it to my sister (if you’ll recall, she’s in Canada at the moment) for her one day of respite from her upcoming exams. Or maybe not; she’s pretty determined about studying, her character is. Such a contrast to her loving, caring brother.

OK, that just sounded wrong. But I designed the damn shirt, so yeah, there’s my good deed for the decade, I suppose.

And I’m actually tempted to work on a design for my class’ T-shirt after a repeated request, but I’m not so sure about designing almost 12 additional iconic characters to go with those that I’ve already done so far. Only time will tell, I suppose.

I have also noticed that the site RSS feed isn’t exactly displaying the loaded pages properly. This is due to a weird error that I’m having with Blogger BETA right now, related to the way it publishes stuff. I can temp-fix it by uploading the main site CSS to every folder on the FTP, but I’d rather figure out the underlying problem and fix it there and then. Just bear with it for the time being, if you’re actually making use of the site feed.

No, I have no idea how it happened either.

In any case, I’ll probably update again and fix this at the same time when I finally finish this layout for the Hard Life website.

Oops. Did I just say that out loud?

My last.fm profile has reached 1000 songs played. Commence celebrations.
